When visiting San Jose Del Cabo, to experience the true flavor of this authentic Mexican village, you must visit Centro Historico San Jose del Cabo. It is know as the “Mexican Heart of Los Cabos.”
San Jose remained a sleepy little town until sport fishing became an important industry in the 1960’s and 1970’s and the construction of the trans-peninsular highway and San Jose International airport made the the region more accessible.
Take a walk around San Jose del Cabo today and note that old facades have been renovated to their original splendor and most restaurants maintain the tradition of colonial courtyards. Recent additions to Historic San Jose include a newly restored plaza with shops, restaurants, the town hall building, the old mission, the theater and the Casa de la Cultura.
